Doing good, the legal way
We work regularly with i-Probono (which connects civil society organisations with lawyers) to assist Indian as well as overseas civil society organisations. As part of this initiative:
- We have worked with One Acre Fund, a US-based non-profit organisation that supplies financing and training to smallholders / farmers to build their pathway to prosperity, to expand their operations in India.
- We have also advised I Was Sari, which empowers disadvantaged Indian female artisans by providing them training and recurring income opportunities, on potential ways of formalising their relationship with the artisans.
We have also assisted a number of other civil society organisations such as Mijwan Welfare Society and Teach For India in connection with the contracts they need to enter into as part of their routine activities.
Scholarship
Touchstone Partners has instituted a scholarship in honour of Reema Ray, a graduate of The WB National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata (NUJS), and an associate at our firm from 2008 until her untimely demise in 2013. Reema embodied the values the firm holds most dear – an ability and desire for high performance coupled with a sense of empathy.
This scholarship supports and encourages deserving students of the NUJS LL.B Programme to build an academic and professional career based on the values that made Reema such an impressive lawyer and human being.
