Touchstone & iProbono
We support i-Probono, a non-profit network that connects civil society organizations with lawyers for the public good. Our engagements include diverse projects through the networks’ global outreach and contributions to both Indian and overseas civil society organizations across jurisdictions. We assist these organizations in transactional work, such as drafting or reviewing contracts, as well as drafting policies in line with applicable law.
In a recent collaboration, we conducted a session on data protection for NGOs as part of iProbono’s ‘Legal A to Z for NGOs’ series, where our colleagues discussed relevant outgoing and incoming data protection regimes with NGOs.
Touchstone Legal Advisory
Advising SOS Children’s Villages, a global non-profit organization which provides quality care services to children without parental care or who are at the risk of losing it, on their operations in India from an Indian corporate and employment law perspective.
Touchstone Partners is delighted to have teamed with the Teach For India (TFI) Fellowship program (Cohort of 2021), towards their onward quest for further employment in industry. The Get Set Connect Mentorship Program collaboration supported TFI Fellows with a deep understanding of industry norms and etiquette, resume writing, networking, and essentials towards career exploration and readiness in the education and overall social sector. Our lawyers in turn appreciated this opportunity to strengthen our mentoring, learning management and facilitation skills. This partnership supported our commitment to pro bono work in advancing education through fulfilling personal growth and career development, thereby serving to fill the daunting chasm between education and employability in India.
We partnered with The Akanksha Foundation in India and Global Mentorship Initiative (GMI), in the United States. Our collaboration supported a pro bono mentorship program that addressed bridging the challenging gap between education and employability in India. We engaged through an online platform that was planned and coordinated by GMI. Through this effort, our lawyers provided professional guidance and shared their business skills with Akanksha’s Alumni.
Touchstone Partners has instituted a scholarship in honour of Reema Ray, a graduate of The WB National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata (NUJS), and an associate at our firm from 2008 until her untimely demise in 2013. Reema embodied the values the firm holds most dear – an ability and desire for high performance coupled with a sense of empathy.
This scholarship supports and encourages deserving students of the NUJS LL.B Programme to build an academic and professional career based on the values that made Reema such an impressive lawyer and human being.
